Martin Wheeler

Another unit from the DJ Series from Martin. This is a Wheeler unit that has a very cool output. The unit has a 300 watt, 120 volt 64515 halogen bulb in the center with a 4 dichro color wheel surrounding it. The light emits out from 4 lenses onto 4 rotating mirror drums that are off center. Unit also has 4 stationary mirrors in the center for added effect. Unit can be operated in 3 modes. Mode 1 is bulb on constantly and mirrors & color wheel reacting to the beat of the music. Mode 2 is the same as 1 but the bulb flashes as well to the beat of the music. Mode 3 is fan only. This is used at the end of the night to cool the unit down. Unit has 6 motors. 4 for the mirror drums, 1 for the color wheel and 1 for the cooling fan. Interesting note on this unit; the mirror drums are polished aluminum and not the usual glass. This makes them lighter and not as fragile. Unit made in Denmark.

NESS Magic Flower

Super unique light from NESS. This is a NESS Magic Flower light. Unit has a mirror dish that is mounted off-center and rotates to the beat of the music via an internal microphone. The unit uses 1 64514 120 volt, 300 watt bulb that reflects off from the mirror dish then emits out of the front of the unit. Located on the front of the unit are 8 different colored lenses. The light effect will come out of 1 - 4 lenses depending on how the dish is pointed. Unit uses 1 power circuit and has 2 motors. 1 for the motion motor and 1 for the cooling fan. Unit was made in China.

Light Engineering Hexabeam - S

This actually was my first special effect light. Unit was sold in the US by American DJ as the FAN 600 CW. Unit has a 120 volt, 500 watt FDF linear lamp inside that rotates to the beat of the music or constantly depending on how you set the adjustment knob on the rear of the unit. The output is 6 flat beams of light that shoot out of the unit that twist and turn. The unit no longer has the hanging bracket with it as the bolts broke (project I still need to fix). Originally the unit had a constantly rotating color wheel, but I removed it since it was faded badly from being so close to the lamp. I plan on installing a piece of aluminum as a rotating shutter eventually, but that will be in the future. Cool unit circa 1990 per the sticker inside the unit. Unit made in England.

Programmi Sistemi Luce Rotostar

Video of PSL Programmi Sistemi Luce Rotostar Unit

Another super Italian light piece.  This is a Programmi Sistemi Luce Rotostar. Awesome light that puts out an awesome light show. Unit has 6, 13 volt - 100 watt 4509 General Electric ACL lamps on the perimeter of the unit that each have a motor on them. The motors move the bulbs towards the rotating mirror drum in the center and also outwards creating a super high-tech helicopter like effect. The motors react to the beat of the music via microphone in the center of the unit. There is also an adjustment knob for the sensitivity of the motor triggers. The mirror drum in the center rotates at a constant speed (about 30 RPM), ant the entire unit spins at a constant rate (about 20 RPM). Fixture has 2 circuits. 1 for the main motor and 1 for the bulbs, rotating drum & bulb motors. Unit made in Italy. This unit is for sale!!
