Griven Shark Unit

Great classic unit from Griven!  This is the Shark unit that features 2 x 36 volt, 400 watt EVD capsule lamps that move up and down inside of the chassis.  As the bulbs move up and down through 5 different colored dichoric strips of glass.  The lamps are side by side and one is mounted higher than the other.  This causes different colored beams to come out of the unit at different times and since the glass is dichoric the colors as the beams move by the colors change even more (due to dichoic glass changing as it is rotated).  Unit is built incredibly well and weighs a ton.  This is due to the huge transformer in the rear for the dual lamps and thick steel construction.  Movement is powered from a standard Italian Micro Motor and sound active is triggered from an on board PCB and microphone.  Great unit made in Italy. 

Griven Cyclope 1200 Centerpiece Unit

Awesome centerpiece unit from Griven!!  This is the Cyclope unit which features a super bright 1200 watt discharge lamp in the center of the chassis producing a huge amount of power.  The beam projects out of 8 apertures mounted around the exterior of the unit.  Each arm has a large mirror attached to a dedicated micro motor for movement. These create a expanding and contracting type effects.  Also mounted to the center are 4 mirrored dishes and 4 large round mirrors.  The 4 large mirrors are mounted on springs creating an awesome effect when the beam hits them.  The unit also features a dichoric color wheel with 4 colors that rotates around the lamp.  The unit has a total of 19 motors for operation.  8 micro motors for the arm mirrors, 8 micro motors for the mirror effects, 1 micro motor for the color wheel and 2 for the cooling fans.  The unit has a super high velocity fan for the lamp on the base and a smaller fan on the rear for the cooling of the ballast & electronics.  Unit can be controlled by 0 - 10 volt analogue or stand alone with music trigger from an onboard microphone.  There is a sensitivity knob for microphone adjustment.  This is the larger of the 2 models produced from Griven.  The smaller unit has a 575 discharge lamp instead of the 1200 watt bulb that is on this fixture.  Unit is super heavy and built like a tank!  Manufactured in Italy. 

Griven Cruiser 1200 Fixture

A truly amazing fixture from Griven!  This is the Cruiser 1200.  These were available in 575 and 1200 watt versions so this is the larger of the 2.  The unit features a central large 1200 HMI double ended lamp that produced a super bright output!  The beam shoots from the center of the unit then through a dual gobo wheel system that is linked together and connected with a common shaft and single stepper.  From the gobo wheel the light goes through a shutter system used for strobing and blackout functions.  After the shutter it bounces off a 45 degree mirror making both beams now point towards a set of convex lenses then out of the projection chassis / housing.  Once the beam exits the housing it encounters arms with 2 X dichoric glass reflectors and a mirror.  Each dichoric reflector and mirror has its own independent stepper and each are mounted on a large arm.  Each arm has its own stepper and moves independently.  The output is spectacular!  It works like having 6 scanners running off one unit.  The unit can run its own programs via an onboard microphone or DMX 512 from an external controller.  There was also a dedicated rack mount controller made for these units but unfortunately I do not have one.  A great one made in Italy!
