f.a.l. Lunar 38 Cosmos Ball PF 086

The absolute king of the Cosmos Ball units!  This is the Lunar - 38 unit from f.a.l.  It features 38 X 6 volt, 30 watt GE 4515 lamps wired into 2 separate series / parallel circuits.  Each consists of 19 on each side of the ball in series.  Thank goodness this unit has the dedicated neon fault indicator lamps for each bulb as testing each lamp would be a terrible task!  Each of the motor circuits are separate as well as the lamps (3 circuits total) for better control of the unit.  The unit also features the super high quality E.L.P. motors for dependable operation.  The only other unit that i know is this big is the Lampo version which also features 38 lamps.  Great unit made in Italy!  

Coemar Tris-Ball

The Coemar King is here!  This is the Tris-Ball unit from Coemar.  The unit uses the same base and yolk assembly as the Coemar Comet 36 but features 3 balls instead of the single rolling box and this unit does not have the dimmer feature that is found in the Comet unit.  The 3 balls are mounted on a common shaft with a single motor on the end for rotation.  The brush and slip ring assembly is located on the opposite end.  The unit uses a total of 36 Par 36 (6 volt 4515) lamps but I plan to retrofit with the lighter and brighter AR111 lamps.  The unit has separate power circuits for lamp and motor circuits.  Awesome unit made in Italy.         

VEI (Superstar Lighting) Star Unit

Another Classic from VEI (Superstar).  This is the Star cosmos ball unit sold here in the US by VEI and manufactured by Superstar Lighting.  The unit features a large ball with 24 large ‘Spikes’ where concentrated beams of colored light are emitted.  The unit spins on both axis with dedicated control over both motors and lamp circuits.  The unit originally featured a discharge lamp, but was modified for a common 24 volt, 250 watt capsule lamp.  The retrofit was done before I acquired the unit so I am thinking about changing it back to the original source.  Not sure yet.  Great unit made in China.    

MBT Saturn ME-2021-1 Unit

This was an interesting find.  This is the Saturn unit from MBT.  It looks similar to a cosmos ball unit but the difference is that it does not do complete rotations.  The unit has 1 central motor in the base for rotation and through an offset linkage, the unit pivots around with stabilizer rings to keep the ball in place.  The light source for the unit is a 24 volt, 150 watt FCS common lamp.  Unit is made in Taiwan.     

 

Lampo Lunar 8 Cosmos Ball

 

Another classic cosmos ball from Lampo! This is the Lunar 8 lamp unit which is the smallest unit that was produced from Lampo. The largest unit Lampo produced was 38 lamps. This unit features 8 X 6 volt, 30 watt GE 4515 common lamps that are wired to a 48 volt transformer. The unit also uses high quality base and side motors. The lamps, base motor and side motor are all on separate circuits so control is not an issue. Super high quality unit made in Italy.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

   

American DJ CM-3010-M Cosmos Ball

Look at this beauty! This is a classic American DJ CM-3010-M cosmos ball. Unit is in great condition and has the optional mirrored surface on the exterior. Unit moves VERY fast. The tumble motor clocks in at 60 RPM and the rotation motor is 15 RPM. The exterior has 10 PAR 36, 12 Volt, 30 Watt 4405 bulbs with neon indicators to determine which bulb is out when it occurs. Unit has 3 separate circuits so the motors and lamps can be controlled separately.
