Martin Magic Moon
Another unit from the D.J Series from Martin...The Magic Moon. Unit uses a 24 volt, 250 watt EHJ bulb that has a rotating mirror dish behind it. The light reflects off the mirror dish, through a convex lens, onto a rotating dichoric mirrored prism then off a few stationary mirrors then out from the unit. The mirror dish and dichoric prism are sound activated from an internal microphone. Unique effect unit! Unit has 3 motors. 1 for the rotating prism, 1 for the mirror dish and 1 for the cooling fan. Fixture made in Denmark.

Hi all, I have had a martin magic moon for a number of years now it's had everything inside replaced just to keep it going however now i have broke a prism mirror and can't seem to find one if anyone knows where i can get one please let me know as i don't want to lose it for a bit of glass
ReplyDeleteEmail me at djcry@hotmail.com I can get you one.
ReplyDeleteAny idea where I can get a replacement sound to light board or how to by pass it?
ReplyDeleteThe boards are not available anymore. Repairs can be done to the exhisting board. The main IC chip is usually the problem. Replacing it will fix problems 95% of the time. If you want to bypass it just unscrew the wires from both sides of the board and tie them together. This will make the motors run constantly.
ReplyDeleteHi. My Magic moon doesn't repsond to sound any more. The motor kind of just twitches nd sputters. Any ideas on the repair? How hard to repair the IC as indicated in the above post? Where can you buy a replacement? Thx!
ReplyDeleteSounds like the motor might be the issue. I would try to remove the power leads for the motor and see if it works by bypassing the audio circuit and connect it directly to a power source.
DeleteBypassed the audio circuita and it spins fine. have to figure out why the audio board is not working.
ReplyDeleteTry replacing the main IC chip. More than likely that will fix the issue.
ReplyDeleteHey, I own a Magic Moon from Martin. My proble is, that the mirror motor and the prism motor are not turning smoothly. It's more like shivering for a few degrees. The morors are also quite loud from the gear inside.
ReplyDeleteI alredy replaced the triac (TLC226T) as well as the electret microphone. The PCB is equipped with a triac and 2 OA LM358.
At the input of the PCB I measure 115V. The motor should be 120V nominal. Is that correct?
Meanwhile I think the motors are defect and this is the reason for my problem.
Any idea what the problem could be?
Thanks
Oliver
