American DJ Cyclotron Version I

Rare unit from American DJ. This is a Cyclotron. Similar to the Cyclotron II, but a more primitive styling just like a mini rolling box.  Unit rotates and spins 360 degrees while using a 750 watt linear strobe lamp. The output is bright flashes and shafts of multi-colored light in multiple directions. Super cool light. Unit has an adjustment knob on it for the speed of the flash and also can be triggered from a 0 - 10 volt analogue signal via a 1/4" plug on the unit. Multiple units can be synchronized when connected together. Unit has 2 motors. 1 for the rotation of the head and 1 for the tumbling motion of the light drum. I am planning on retrofitting the unit for a halogen light source and eliminating the strobe circuitry.  Unit made in Taiwan.

NJD Twister

Giant unit from NJD.  This is the NJD Twister unit that features a 120 volt, 500 watt linear lamp mounted flat in the center of the unit.  Around the lamp there are 2 separate sets of dichoric strips mounted on blades.  1 set of strips is attached to a rotation motor and the second set spins freely.  The set that is attached to the motor rotates to the beat of the music via the control PCB with chassis mounted microphone and sensitivity adjustment knob.  The output is 2 tunnels of flat beams rotating around to the beat of the music.  This unit is almost exactly like the MBT Wagon Wheel unit and similar to the t.a.s. Carosello.  Fixture made in England.

Lampo Superlight

This is by far the king of the Fanstar ‘flat beam’ lighting type effect units!  This is the Superlight by Lampo.  The unit is like 5 Flat beam units stacked on a large chassis!  There are 5 rows of 8 lenses producing up to 40 different beams of light.  The lamp is a common 220 volt, 1000 watt linear stick lamp.  The lamp rotates on an adjustable speed motor that is mounted on a large assembly that rides on a set of rails up and down.  This makes the light emit from different sections of the unit as it moves along the track.  Long rails run along both sides of the assembly providing power for the lamp and rotation motor as it moves.  The movement of the large lamp assembly is from a geared motor with a chain attached at both ends.  Unit has a fan located at each end for optimal cooling of the high power lamp.  The movement of both motors and lamp are provided from a dedicated rack controller.  The controller has 2 faders (1 to control the lamp motor and 1 for the motor that moves the assembly along the rails) and selection knobs for audio / manual control and Games (pre-programmed sequences for the unit).  The controller also has an audio input for sound-to-light animation through a ¼” connector on the rear.  A very cool feature of this unit is that connection of the wires to the controller feature module quick releases.  This makes connecting the unit very easy and not confusing since there are 7 wires that run between the controller and the unit.  Very special unit made in Italy.

American DJ ST-405AL Multi-Star (Starlight) Unit

A super huge classic centerpiece unit from American DJ.  This is the ST-405A Multi Star (Also known as the Starlight) unit.  Each of the 5 heads has a 24 volt, 250 watt EHJ lamp inside of the dome.  The unit has a base motor and separate motor to rotate the 5 heads.  The unit is controlled using 3 separate power cords.  1circuit for each motor and 1 for the lamp circuit.  This is very similar to a Clay Paky Astrospider but adds 1 extra head and colored lenses on each dome.  Big and HEAVY unit (90 Lbs.).  Made in Taiwan.
